Making The Office Feel Like A Home

The office is a place where we spend a large chunk of our time. If you are looking for a way to make the office a more productive and comfortable place for you and your team, adding some homely touches can go a long way.

Think of the office as a holiday home. You spend a fair portion of your week here but you always go back to your own house at the end of the day. There should be some elements of the home which feel comfortable and homely, and allow people to relax and enjoy their working day. Today we are going to take a look at some of the elements you can bring to the office this year.

Get great facilities

The commercial plumbing in your office is likely one of the smaller priorities on your list when designing the office and this is no surprise. However, the facilities that you can provide for your employees can make a huge difference to the atmosphere in the office this year. For example, if you offer a shower cubicle in the office this can be a great thing because your employees can rinse off when they feel overheated and they can also exercise in the office knowing that they have a way to clean off. You can even install an oven in the office so that people can heat up proper meals and you can create slow cooker soups for the whole team on a Friday afternoon. There are so many elements you can bring which will make a difference to everyone.

Have quiet area

The office is a place for productivity and hard work, but it is also a place where people can become stressed easily. As a boss, you should provide a stress free space where people can escape when they need 10 minutes to cool off. This space should be a separate room from the rest of the office and you can place a sofa, books, and even a small TV in there to make it cosy. It is a great part of the office and one which will make a huge impact on the people in your workplace.

Make it communal

The best way to make an office feel more like a home is to open it up and allow people to talk to each other. Being able to speak to one another across the room is a great way to lighten the mood of the office and it will allow you to feel like you are part of one big family.

Create an outdoor haven

The main thing that a lot of offices are missing is a garden. The garden can be a wonderful part of the home and when it comes to the office, it is something you will want to really work hard to create. An outdoor space is an escape for your workers and it will allow them to get away from the office and enjoy the sunshine for a while. Fresh air is good for the soul and the mind and can help your employees feel refreshed.
