The Finishing Touches to Your Startup

You’ve made the all-important business plan, found the finances, hired the perfect employees; and are ready to open your doors, launch your website and products, with the hopes of creating a force in the world of business. However, there may have been a few last-minute details you’ve forgotten about, which are imperative to your business’s and employee’s success, and your customer’s happiness.

Therefore, before you open your physical or virtual doors, ensure your employees have the right equipment, from pens and paper to functioning desktops and comfortable chairs. Ensure your customers are going to be greeted with a user-friendly website and descriptive product or service descriptions. Here are the finishing touches you should apply to your startup before you start conducting business.

Correct Stationery

As an employer, it’s your duty to provide the necessary stationery needed for your employees to work productively. This doesn’t mean you have to go overboard, however, ensuring your employees have notepads, pens, headsets and Post-Its will help with their performance. If you have a content team, pens and a notepad are optimal; for sales, a headset as well as pens and paper will greatly help; providing printed ring binders for your employees to organize their work in, and present to clients can also help with your company’s overall brand and reputation.

Tea and Coffee

Although the rise in barista coffee is increasing and showing no signs of slowing down, this does not mean you have to invest in a state-of-the-art coffee machine just yet. Instead, be sure to provide a pot of instant coffee and a box of tea bags, and milk. Once your business is turning a profit and you can afford bigger employee treats, consider an office coffee machine and a water cooler.

User-Friendly Website

Nowadays, you cannot afford to stay offline. You also cannot afford to create a website which is just okay. Instead, you need to invest time and money in creating a user-friendly website which is full of useful information, striking photos, and an ‘About’ page that explains your company, who you are and your motivations, and the company’s aims. You also need to link the website with your social media profiles (which also must be made, and used before your launch), and a call to action at the top of your website page. You need to capture the attentions of prospective customers before they have the change to click off – usually, people will only give a new website 7 seconds of their time.

Branded Office Space

If you can afford to have an office space, then you need to make sure it’s clean, tidy, and branded before you invite clients or customers to your space. This can be achieved in a number of ways – your logo painted on a wall, the company’s name on the glass of a front door, a well-placed sign. You want people to notice you, and a well thought out brand can titillate prospective clients who pass your office space if they walk past. Additionally, you also want your office space to look professional; therefore, allow your employees to personalize their desks, however, make sure their desks remain decluttered.
